We proudly opened a new chapter for Korea's automobile industry by establishing ourselves as an independent provider of automobile technology for thirty years. As a sign of our strength, Hyundai cars are now to be found running in 190 countries world-wide.
From our base model Accent to our flagship Equus, Hyundai Motor Company is assembling and producing passenger car models to fit every consumer's needs.
We have now reached a level of independence and self-reliance from foreign technology. We have accomplished the technological feat of designing and developing our own engines and automatic transmissions. Our R&D centers in Korea and abroad are working continuously to develop new technologies for the automobile industry of the future. Over the last 26 years, between 1976 and 2001, we have exported over 7.8 million cars.
